WHO I AM
Maxime’s Mission & Vision
Born in 1991 in the scenic outskirts of Montreal, Canada, I had the rich privilege of growing up in a bilingual atmosphere, with French being my heart’s primary language. Life was different for me, walking the unique path of living with autism. However, the undying love and guidance of my family molded me, helping me find my place in this vast world.
My childhood was an enchanting blend of video games, a touch of technology with computers, and a kaleidoscope of animated TV shows and films. It was within these animations that I found solace and an escape – from timeless classics and modern Disney masterpieces, to the captivating work of Don Bluth. Among these myriad characters, Mickey Mouse ignited an unexplained, unconditional love for mice characters in my heart.
At the tender age of 10, my vivid imagination found its way onto paper, igniting the beginning of my artistic journey. It began with imitating characters from beloved video games and animated series, evolving into birthing my own characters. While comics first caught my eyes, a serendipitous rediscovery of Don Bluth’s ‘An American Tail’ in fall 2005 led me down to a different artistic alley. Reminiscing Fievel Mousekewitz’s poignant journey, I was swayed by the art of illustration. Honing my skills through Don Bluth’s artistry and drawing Fievel in countless moods and moments, I realized my calling in illustrations.
2010 was a significant milestone as I showcased my art to the expansive world of the internet, meeting fellow artists and making invaluable connections. Juggling academic commitments, 2016 ushered in a fresh chapter with a move to the serene landscapes of Sweden. A land of new beginnings, discoveries, and limitless opportunities.
By spring 2020, dreams started morphing into reality. The highlight was the privilege to illustrate the cover for Makina’s children’s novel, ‘Le gardien du dimanche’, complemented by various other art commissions.
Inspired by the countless compliments that my charming illustrations would fit into children’s books, I ventured into the uncharted territory of story writing. In April 2023, ‘The Tales of Milo & Ralph’ was born — my very first children’s book. It was a completely new challenge: bringing my visual storytelling into words, and navigating the process of writing, editing, and publishing a book.
This marked a huge milestone in my journey as an artist and illustrator.
As the pages of my journey continue to unfold, I am committed to illuminating hearts with stories, eloquently expressed through my illustrations and characters. I invite you to embark on this artistic expedition with me, cherishing every creation and story I have to offer.
